Opening night is the first opportunity where each competitor gets to roll out their brand new cars for the season, and there won’t be much time to shake them down. We expect to see all efforts on making those feature races at the conclusion of the night.
For the first time in over a decade the Fireworks Display returns to the venue. At the end of the nights racing the lights will go out and we’ll see a full blown pyro display to celebrate both Guy Fawkes and the start of the Speedway season. All classes are running tonight.
The action rolls on with this, the second night of the season. The competitors all like to assert their dominance, and tonight the Auckland Championship Titles are on the line for all classes.
These next 2 shows will be the biggest Sprintcar shows we have at the venue this season. Importing the talent we have from the USA (Brad Loyet, Kraig Kinser & Craig Dolanski) has put the local boys on notice. Our boys have the local track advantage, and the visiting boys are coming off their summer season, so nothing will be left to chance.
We will see a NZ/USA Teams Race before the Feature Race.
All classes are running tonight
The final round of the Series, which is paying over $45,000 in prize money. If these guys got a bad start, they will have to make the most of tonight. Sprintcar racing is awesome to watch as these winged warriors with over 800 horsepower tear around the track at Western Springs in about 12 seconds.
This will be your last chance to witness the most powerful, gravity defiant, terrifying show in town this year.
All classes are running tonight

The World 30 Lap Midget Derby is the title on the line tonight. All cars are entered equally, and we work our way through the field of over 50 cars to start 20 in the main event. The Feature Race is 30 laps with the fastest qualifier off the front row.
We also see the return of the Bill Buckley Sidecar Series for Round 1.
All classes are running tonight plus Sidecars
Tonight we are in for a treat - We have the Trans-Tasman Sidecar Clash. There will be 4 of the best Australian Sidecar competitors fighting it out with 4 of the best Kiwis..... Bring it on!
We are also lucky enough to have the TQ Midgets run their Speedway NZ Grand Prix Championship. This is considered to be the 2nd best one to win behind the NZ Title. This will also be the last time we see the Midget drivers before they head away to Nelson for their NZ Championships
This fantastic spectacle returns to Western Springs, trust me if the place sells out, don’t say I didn’t warn you!
The Super Saloons return to the venue and 24 of these thunderous machines will battle it out to win in front of a crowd they simply are not used to.
The Sprintcar drivers will be watching from a distance as they are racing for the Rolling Thunder Title and the chance to win a ‘Rolling Thunder Ring’! This event pays a total of $15,000.
Just when you thought that was all, we then throw in the Celebrity Race, a handpicked group of drivers to race in the Super Saloons. There will be a number of celebrity drivers, all of which are to be announced.
All classes are running tonight with the exception of the F2 Midgets
